Metal structure; papier-mâché; plaster compound and beach sand on MDF.
100 × 92 cm — 2026

“Playa” is a sand-textured wall sculpture inspired by coastal landscapes and the meeting point between land and sea. The entire surface is composed of natural beach sand collected from one of the artist’s favorite beaches in San José del Cabo, grounding the work in a specific place and memory. Its color remains true to the raw, unaltered tone of the sand, while the relief forms echo the subtle patterns shaped by wind and water along the shore.

Light moves across the textured surface, revealing depth and variation throughout the day, activating the piece within its environment. Created by Paloma Rocha, this contemporary abstract sculpture bridges material, landscape, and memory—bringing a quiet, organic presence into modern interiors.
