Metal structure; papier-mâché; plaster compound; sand on MDF.
Ø 85 × 7 cm — 2025
A circular composition linking moon and sea. Contrasting textures suggest lunar surface and moving water, referencing the pull of the tides.
“Tide” is a contemporary textured wall sculpture inspired by the rhythmic relationship between the moon and the sea. Its circular composition reinforces this connection, evoking cyclical movement, continuity, and natural balance. Layered relief forms suggest both the expansion and retreat of water, while contrasting textures subtly recall the duality between lunar surface and ocean motion.
The presence of sand introduces a tactile, grounded quality, anchoring the piece in natural materiality. As light moves across the surface, it reveals depth and variation, activating the work and allowing it to shift throughout the day.
Created by Paloma Rocha, “Tide” bridges abstraction and natural phenomena, offering a refined sculptural presence for modern and luxury interiors. It is a contemplative work for collectors and designers seeking minimalist pieces that embody rhythm, cycles, and the quiet force of nature.
