“LITORAL”, 2026
Materia Viva Series
Mixed media on canvas
Diptych, 30 × 40 cm each
“Litoral” is an abstract diptych by Mexican artist Paloma Rocha inspired by the meeting of water and land along natural coastlines.
Through mineral textures, sandy surfaces, and shades of blue and turquoise, the two compositions evoke aerial views of coastal formations shaped by erosion, sedimentation, and the movement of water.
The contrast between rough, accumulated materials and smoother areas of color reflects the continuous interaction between natural elements.
Part of the Materia Viva series, “Litoral” explores the changing boundaries between land and water, translating these processes into two complementary abstract landscapes.
